This picture says to me, “My little sister is black.” I see a poised, no-nonsense girl. What do you see?

I see three girls who’d rather be doing something else, and a boy who’s like “fuck it, I’ma show off my raw skills!”

This campaign perpetuates the stereotype that ballet girls are super serious all the time. Well, maybe.

Not enough Asians.

Four kids posing for an ad. Who gives a shit what colour they are.
Do an all-white ad, dats racist. Include a minority, we’re still going to nitpick something to make it racist.
Maybe they could have thought out their poses a little better, but tbh if this hadn’t already been cast in a negative light I wouldn’t have even noticed.

Yup, typical of many.

I must search the world for something to be offended by!
Actually, that’s not it. There are so many serious injustices in the world, it is actually pretty easy to find something to be offended by. The people who are “offended” by stuff like this picture are cowards. They won’t make a stink about something serious, like actual slavery happening today , because there is no one who will respond with an, “oh my gosh, I’m so sorry.”

lol but if they didn;t include a black kid then they’d be racist

Hey, Stranger! Some folks have to try really hard to be offended.

That’s an interesting take. The girl in pink is multiracial, if am not mistaken. So through my (middle-aged white guy who is a public school educator) lenses, I’m not seeing
black
, I’m seeing
child
. And a sober, strong child.

This child looks multiracial to me. Yet we identify her by her most obvious trait. In the case of this photo, four kids posing for a picture, the folks crying foul are the racists, IMHO.

I like your take, BTW...

This ad reminds me of the whole “I’m not racist I have a black friend” argument
They literally put a minority in the ad for the sake of diversity. This is the dumb stuff our society likes now.

I guess some people have too much time on their hands, maybe they need to spend it doing something more constructive than trying to find things that offend them...

So people are saying its racist because the “white girl” is resting her weight on the “black girl’s” head... Also, check out this photo from a previous Gap ad where, get this, the “black girl” is resting HER weight on the “WHITE GIRL’S” head! OMG RACISTSZZZSZSZZZ
Is this seriously what people spend their time complaining about? First its a “Why are there no black people in your ad?” and now its a “You can’t have a WHITE resting their arm on a BLACK. TAKE THIS RACIST AD DOWN.” Unbelievable... Why can’t we see them as just plain children - little humans? A lot (not all obviously) of people who call out racists for being racist are actually racist themselves IMO.

Nearing middle aged white guy (39) in a career that the media is destroying as of late here. You nailed it.

Thank you. I’d be interested to know what career you refer to.

Terrible cars. Dependable and robust, but terrible cars.
You and I might have an interesting conversation about that profession and its perception these days. I know that as an educator — and after a year spent as a high school administrator in an urban environment — my views of crime and punishment and law and authority, and social justice and emotional intelligence, have shifted quite a bit. I think that what the press and the Liberals have latched onto, with regard to the Crown Vic profession, shines a bright light on two things: how much power one (inappropriately trained) individual or agency has to make an entire profession look very, very bad, and how power and authority can corrupt a man. Or an institution.

I’ll take the Crown Vic over the new Taurus any day of the week, month, and year.
And yes. One person can spoil it for EVERYONE.

I wouldn’t want a Taurus either, nor a Charger. And thanks for the chat.
